Calling our U2 friends worldwide!

We are Melanie and Andre, a couple with two daughters, living in Germany. For years now we have been chasing our dream to design, produce and publish a children´s book. Over the last years we developed several ideas but also had to face a constant lack of time for realisation. Earlier this spring we decided to “turn inspiration into action” and set things in motion.

After thinking about connecting our basic story and the related characters to our longtime love U2, we adjusted our credo to “turn inspiration into lasting change.” Initially our book was not planned to appeal to many people, but we decided to change that by creating another intersection of book & U2. We remembered that (RED) recently asked us: “What are you going to do to stop AIDS?” We are longtime supporters of (RED) and we think we found another possible answer.

Together with you we can turn (RED) and maybe even achieve something remarkable. Our book proceeds will go straight to (RED)´s important fight against AIDS and we are absolutely committed to transparency and will be recording numbers and information regularly on our website.

Last but not least, CEDARWOOD was evaluated and verified by the main target audience: Our daughters. As a U2 fan, you are our secondary target audience. Browse the first ever U2 related children´s book and take a little stroll around Dublin with our tiny heroes. Reconnect yourself with real life and enjoy CEDARWOOD together with your children.

Thank you all very much, spread the word and let’s make this a huge success! For (RED) and humanity.

Best,
Melanie & Andre

About (RED)

(RED) was founded in 2006 by Bono and Bobby Shriver to get businesses and people involved in the fight against AIDS. In more than 30 years, AIDS – which is preventable and treatable – has killed 39 million people. Today, of the nearly 37 million people in the world living with HIV, nearly 15 million have access to life-saving treatment that costs as little as 40 cents a day. While this is incredible progress, we’ve still got a lot of work to do to ensure that all those who need medication have access to it.

(RED) was created to help provide a sustainable flow of money from the private sector to fight AIDS. We’ve raised over $315 million to date through the sale of (RED) products from iconic companies – like Apple and Starbucks – and from (RED) events. And 100% of that money goes to work on the ground. Because of the progress made in the fight against AIDS, the world is now on the cusp of an incredible possibility – we can deliver the first AIDS FREE GENERATION in over 30 years. Every day over 600 babies are born with HIV. Yet with access to antiretroviral treatment, we can prevent the transmission of the virus from moms to babies. Without it, 50% of babies will die before their second birthday. Only urgency and action will help us achieve the goal. If we act now, an AIDS FREE GENERATION can become a reality. The question is not ‘Can we do it?… It’s ‘Will we do it?’
